Maile Pingel is a design historian and freelance writer. She holds an M.Phil in the Decorative Arts from the University of Glasgow and worked as a researcher in the design department at LACMA and as an editor at Architectural Digest before shifting gears to writing. She co-authored legendary editor Paige Rense’s 2018 book, Architectural Digest: Autobiography of a Magazine, 1920-2010, for Rizzoli and is a contributor to Luxe, Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal’s Off Duty section.
